THE JOHN T. HOOD & MARTHA EMMA YANCEY HOOD SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Scholarship will provide one $1,000 scholarship annually to a member of the United Methodist congregation within the bounds of the North Georgia Annual Conference who is enrolled or enrolling as a full-time student in UM University Senate approved seminary in Georgia. The applicant’s goal must be to be an Ordained Minister in the North Georgia Annual Conference. The applicant must be in the candidacy process supervised by the North Georgia Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.

The following information must accompany this application before the scholarship can be considered:

1. Documentation of enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited Georgia United Methodist seminary; and
2. Documentation that the student is in the candidacy process from your District Superintendent; and
3. A statement about applicant’s call to and vision of ordained ministry (no more than two typed pages).

THE JAMES LEON AND MYRTICE MARIE K. PEED SCHOLARSHIP

In 1985 James Leon and Myrtice Peed, as generous members of the South Georgia Annual Conference, established this scholarship to “support the education of ministers and missionaries who are, or are to become, or reside, in the jurisdiction of the South Georgia Annual Conference.”

A Peed Scholarship applicant must be:

• a member of the South Georgia Annual Conference

• a certified candidate for ministry by a South Georgia District Committee on Ordained Ministry (including a provisional member of the SGA Conference)

• a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university, or a full-time or part-time seminary student at a UM-related seminary or a UM University Senate approved seminary, pursuing academic requirements for ordination as a Deacon or Elder

• intending to serve at least 5 years after ordination in or through the South Georgia Conference
